Earlier this year, the Canadian Association of Women in Construction (CAWIC) announced its plans to "conduct research and develop an action plan to improve women's advancement into leadership roles within the construction industry" with support from a sizable government grant (CAWIC, 21 February 2014). CAWIC is recruiting employers in Alberta, Ontario and Newfoundland/Labrador to collaborate with as part of its Women's Advancement Project (CNW, 26 August 2014).

The Policy Group on Tradeswomen's Issues (PGTI) is a collaboration of individuals from a variety of disciplines committed to increasing women in the construction trades. The Advisory Committee on Apprenticeship, Education and Workforce Partnership Workgroup, and Under-Represented Populations Workgroup recently presented a white paper to the United States Department of Labor's Office of Apprenticeship that analyzes best practices and challenges, and provides recommendations for partnerships between Registered Apprenticeship programs and Community-Based Organizations.
